METIC” stands for Mid-Term Effort To Improve Classes. This strategy comes from Phillips Exeter Academy and is a highly effective method of encouraging student voice and class self-reflection and assessment at any point in a course. The idea is to use class time to consider the experience of discussion, hear strengths and concerns, and make suggestions for the future and improve classes.
